PassAndroid Passbook viewer 3.5.6

What is it?

This app is a viewer for passes, such as boarding passes, coupons, movie tickets, and membership cards. It serves as a digital replacement for paper or plastic, which helps reduce waste and save trees. Additionally, this app is Free Software, following Richard Stallman's concept of Free and Open Software for a better world.

How does it work?

The app can open espass or pkpass files, which you can receive via email or download from the internet. These files typically contain a barcode that authorizes you and may include other useful information, such as descriptions, times, and locations. The app can be used offline once the pass is downloaded.

History

I discovered Passbook files when I received my ticket for the 29c3 event. As there was no Android app that worked for me at the time, I decided to create one myself. The initial version was quickly developed and allowed me to gain entry to 29C3. Although I didn't actively work on the app in the following year, I received feedback from users and fixed issues with certain passes that were sent to me.

One year later, just before the 30C3 event, I resumed work on the app for two reasons: firstly, a friend of mine showed interest in integrating Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) and location beacon features into Passbook; secondly, I received an email from Luis Torrecilla, a talented designer who had created a great redesign for the app. These factors led to the creation of PassAndroid - a completely new version with a fresh look and additional functions like sorting, adding to calendar, pull-to-refresh, a navigation drawer, and contextual ActionBar menu.
